Cotoneve: the natural and ecologic choice for face cleansing and personal hygiene
07/16/2019
The Italian laws in terms of environmental protection are at the forefront in Europe and all over the world. In fact, from the beginning of 2019, a law that prohibits the production and distribution of cotton buds with plastic stick has come into force in Italy.
A certainly necessary measure, useful for reducing the circulation of material that is difficult to dispose and potentially harmful for the environment and the sea.
Cotoneve has anticipated law by 18 years, deciding to sell, in Italy, only cotton buds with paper sticks and 100% pure cotton make-up remover pads in Italy. This year, after careful and deep tests on the finished product, Cotoneve has obtained for its cotton range the certainty of biodegradability and compostability. A great goal that attests the high quality of the products and the strong attention of the brand towards the respect of the environment.
CAN ALL COTONEVE COTTON PRODUCTS BE DEFINED AS BIODEGRADABLE AND COMPOSTABLE?
Yes, of course! A renowned research laboratory carried out all the tests required by the strict UNI EN ISO 13432 standard and after several months of analysis, Cotoneve brilliantly passed all the required tests of biodegradability, disintegration, ecotoxicity and heavy metals. A brilliant result that once again certifies the superior quality of Cotoneve products.
WHAT DOES BIODEGRADABLE MEAN?
Biodegradation is the process of degradation of a material, in a given period, under certain conditions, due to the action of bacteria, fungi or other microorganisms. A “non-biodegradable” material is not absorbed by the soil and its chemical nature remains unchanged over time, thus having a negative environmental impact.
WHAT DOES COMPOSTABLE MEAN?
A biodegradable material is not necessarily also compostable. A material is defined as compostable (can be transformed into compost, a natural fertilizer) when it is not only biodegradable but also it disintegrates, and its decomposition process takes less than 3 months. Furthermore, a material can be considered compostable only if it is considered not dangerous for the environment and therefore it does not include components such as heavy metals, to make an example.
WHERE SHOULD THE COTONEVE COTTON BUD BE DISPOSED?
Cotoneve cotton buds are made of paper and so they can be disposed of in wet waste. However, it may happen that the municipality dictates different provisions, so it is necessary to always check the reference sites. To clearly communicate the safety of Cotoneve cotton buds and make it easier for consumers to make their own choices, we have chosen a strong symbol of the struggle for respect of the environment: the seahorse. Cotoneve packs are also made recognizable by the blue graphics that recalls the sea.
